Lal Mahal

It is one of the most famous monuments located in Pune. In the year 1630 AD, Chhatrapati Shivaji's Father Shri Shahaji Bhosale, established the Lal Mahal for his wife Jijabai and son. Historically, the Lal Mahal is famous for an encounter between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Shaista Khan where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj cut off the later’s fingers when he was trying to escape from the window of the Lal Mahal.

Shanivarwada

Shaniwar Wada a 13 storey palace of Peshwas was built by Bajirao-I, in the year 1736. It was head quarter of the Peshwas and it symbolizes Pune’s culture. The main entrance is known as 'Delhi Darwaja' & others have names like Ganesh, Mastani, Jambhal, Khidki. There is a statue of Bajirao-I on horse in front of Shniwarwada. A light and music show is conducted every day showing history of Peshwas.

Aagakhan Palace

Gandhi National Memorial Society's Agakhan Palace is the Italian arches and lawns. This place has been used as a prison by Britishers for Mahatma Gandhi, Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadeobhai Desai during the ‘Quit India Movement’. Marble memorials were put later on in the memory of Kasturba and Mahadeobhai, as both of them breathed their last in this place.

Sinhagad

Sinhagad, earlier known as 'Kondhana' is the most prominent and popular fort in Pune. It is located at village Donaje, taluka-Haveli. It is 25 km away from Pune on a hill 1290 m high. Tanaji Malusare-Chh. Shivaji’s trusted and brave general, fought a battle here all alone with the Mughal army. On hearing news of his death, Chh.Shivaji said. "We won the fort but lost the lion" and so after his death Chh. Shivaji renamed this "Kondhana" fort as "Sinhagad".

Khadakwasala Dam

Khadakwasla is a dam on the Mutha River situated 20 km from the City of Pune. This dam is one of the main sources of water for Pune. In the vicinity of the dam, there is the well-known National Defence Academy and Central Water & Power Research Station (CWPRS). Just a few kilometres up the road, lies Sinhagad Fort and the twin dams of Panshet and Varasgaon which mainly supply water for irrigation.

Shivneri Fort

Shivneri Fort is a 17th century military fortification located near Junnar in Pune district in Maharashtra, India. It is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Maratha Empire. At the centre of the fort is a water pond which is called 'Badami Talav'. To the South of 'Badami Talav' are the statues Jijabai and a young Shivaji. In the fort there are two water springs, called Ganges and Yamuna, which have water throughout the year.

Parvati Hill

Parvati Hill is a hillock in Pune, India. The hillock rises to 2,100 feet (640 m) above sea level. Atop the hillock is the Parvati Temple, one of the most scenic locations in Pune. The temple is the oldest heritage structure in Pune and was built during the rule of the Peshwa dynasty. For visitors, Parvati hill is also an observation point that offers a panoramic view of Pune. It is the second highest point in Pune (after Vetal Hill). The hill has 108 steps leading to the top of the hill where the temple is situated. The main temple, Devdeveshwara, is made of blackstone. It was completed under Balaji Baji Rao in 1749, and a gold pinnacle was added to the temple in 1760. Other temples are dedicated to Vitthal and Rukmini, Vishnu, and Kartikeya.
